The Lago Vista Police Department was established in 1985 and has proudly served the community ever since. The Department has 18 full-time sworn officers plus reserve officers, including the Chief. The Lago Vista Police Department received a grant which provides rifle resistant body armor for every officer.
The Department has it’s own full-time Emergency Communications Dispatch Center located in the police department building. Dispatchers provide essential public safety services through a 24/7 emergency and non-emergency communications center. Dispatch assists Fire, EMS and also coordinates communications between agencies such as the Texas Department of Public Safety, Travis County Sheriff’s Office, Jonestown Police, Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, Cedar Park Police, LCRA and Texas Parks and Wildlife.
Since Lago Vista is the second largest geographical area in Travis County, with nearly 228 miles of roadway, the patrol division does a lot of driving. Patrol officers drive an average of 10,000 miles a month! The Department conducts routine police patrols, criminal investigations, crime prevention and other law enforcement activities. Â
The Lago Vista Police Department also proudly sponsors the Blue Santa program by assisting in fundraising, food collection and locating facilities from which to operate.
